Forward Bank Sees Record-Breaking Year in Assisting Non-Profits
January 25, 2022
Forward Bank is excited to distribute over $367,000 to local non-profits participating in the Charitable Money Market Account (CMMA) program for 2021 and local account owners are to thank.
In 2006, the CMMA was established to provide additional funding for non-profits. Forward Bank has donated over $1.6 million since its inception on behalf of CMMA holders. The program experienced a 50% donation growth rate in the past year. A total of 44 new non-profits have been added to the list in 2021, bringing the total amount of participating non-profits to 367.
In 2021, Forward added a Non-Profit Banker to expand the relationships with local non-profits and uncover any additional needs that Forward can help with.
“The CMMA immediately caught my attention when I joined the Forward team,” stated Lindsey Safford, Non-Profit Banker at Forward Bank. “My first interaction with many of these organizations includes handing them a CMMA donation which is pretty remarkable. This program is the start of the relationship with our non-profits and will open the door to helping them in other ways.”
The CMMA allows supporters to open an interest-earning money market account while designating a participating non-profit organization to receive a donation from Forward Bank at the end of the calendar year. The donation is based on the customer’s average account balance.
Forward Bank, Insurance and Investment Services have contributed an additional $363,000 beyond the CMMA program to community organizations requesting monetary donations, raffle/basket donations or event sponsorships. The Forward team has also contributed 7,742 hours of volunteer service in their local communities.
