May 25, 2022
Forward Bank and Insurance has donated $25,000 to help the Thorp Cecil Tormey Post 118 of the American Legion build a new Veterans Remembrance Park.
The new Veterans Remembrance Park will provide a beautiful place for the community to reflect on the sacrifices of those that have served our country from through all the major conflicts. The park will feature flags representing each branch of service, the American flag, our state flag, and the POW/MIA flag. Additionally, the veteran’s wall will honor service men and women from Thorp. Park dedication benches will also be available and will provide places for community members to sit and enjoy the surrounding beauty.
“It is heartwarming to have Forward step up with this large donation towards the park,” commented Billy Buss, Thorp Cecil Tormey Unit 118 American Legion Post spokesperson. “We will continue to collaborate with members of the community to bring this park from concept to completion creating a fitting place to honor all that served from our community.”
“The Thorp Cecil Tormey Unit 118 American Legion Post is an important part of our community and continues to remind us of all of the sacrifices our veterans have made to allow us all to live in peace,” stated Samantha Hubbard, Office Manager for Forward Bank in Thorp. “Veterans Remembrance parks not only honor those who have served, they educate us all on service to country and create a beautiful place for us all to gather. We are proud to be part of this project.”
